The Colour Bar goblet embraces a playful homage to the uniqueness of glass as a material, defined by its unparalleled fluidity in form. In making glass, colour is introduced through a condensed bar of material that is chopped, heated and applied to a molten glass bubble. The moment of adding colour brings a great sense of excitement, possibility, anticipation and wonder – and it is this moment which has been so distinctively captured through the celebration of raw colour bar material at the centre of this goblet design.

COLLECTION PREVIEW: For Local Actual, glass artist Ayano Yoshizumi made a special alternative run on her Stack Planters. These planters instead incorporate recycled glass cullet from waste and broken glass, collected from her studio in the Jam Factory. The recycled glass emphasises each planters’ unique nature, and gives the usually-smooth surface a cobbled, textural quality.

Ayano wishes to explore the possibilities of glass as a circular material, and as such has offered to take back any planters when they reach the end of their lives with you, to be reused as glass frit.

Stack Planter aims to push the boundaries of glass as a material for planter pots. It utilises playful, viblant, glass colours and shapes to harmonise with contemporary interior design. This design aesthetic comes from my experience of living in Australia, which has exposed me to vivid and  bright colours from the surrounding environment, and from Japanese Minimalism, which celebrates simplicity. The design is a combination of a planter and a saucer- these can be arranged in a variety of combinations to complement an interior palette, allowing the end-user to tailor the design of the Stack Planter. The Stack Planter highlights ethical making practices in contrast to mass-production.
